Welcome to the
Chattanooga Amateur Radio Club.
Subject: You’re Invited — Come Discover the Chattanooga Amateur Radio Club!
Hello and 73!
Whether you’re a seasoned ham, a newly licensed operator, or just curious about amateur radio, we’d love for you to come check out the Chattanooga Amateur Radio Club (CARC) — callsign W4AM.
At CARC, we believe in the magic and camaraderie of amateur and GMRS radio. We’re a friendly group of folks who enjoy everything from casual ragchewing and digital modes to emergency communications and SKYWARN storm spotting. There’s truly something for everyone here.
Here are just a few ways you can get involved:
Workshops & Training — We regularly offer hands-on learning opportunities covering everything from Winlink to HF propagation. Space is limited, so register early!
Local Nets — Join us on the air, including the Lone Ranger Wellness Net nightly on 146.790 or our Saturday Night Club Net.
SKYWARN — Help protect our community by becoming a trained storm spotter as part of our Enhanced SKYWARN program.
HF2026 Hamfest — Mark your calendars for Hamfest Chattanooga 2026!
Want to know more or get your FCC license? We can help with that too — visit us at w4am.net to see our upcoming events, workshops, and membership information.
Come join the fun. We’d love to hear your call — or help you get one!

You Can Be a Helping Ham
Not only are Amateur Radio Operators known for helping each other (Elmering), we help our communities with Public Service even when disasters have not occurred. This great video provides insight as to why we do what we do for the good of our nation, our communities, and our neighbors. This video references a popular event in the Upper Penisula of Michigan.
